Founded in 2011, APIL was sponsored by overseas Chinese businessman and philanthropist, Mr. Wilfredo Keng, in collaboration with the Law School of Renmin University of China (RUC).

During the past decade, APIL has become nationally recognized for its interdisciplinary focus and leadership in the profession. APIL pioneered the concepts of interdisciplinary and international legal education. Today, our curriculum is infused with a variety of courses involving key disciplines. APIL is the first to commit itself to the research and academic exchange of East Asian and Asian legal integration. We have cultivated legal talents in East Asian countries to be proficient in Asian Law within the Asia Pacific regions. APIL has become a significant platform for Asian legal scholars and practitioners to exchange and cooperate in legal research and practice towards realizing Asian integration and legal system coordination for effective policy consultation and organization of Asian countries.

APIL has organized various forms of international communications and activities and hosted several exchange programs for students and professionals of different Asian law schools such as University of the Philippines, University of Indonesia, Doshisha University, Vietnam National University, and National University of Singapore. As a bridge of legal academic exchange, APIL regularly holds academic tours to Asia-Pacific Region such as Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, Australia, and Philippines.
