“At present, the Asia is in the period of unprecedented dynamic and uncertain.  In this context, scholars should undertake interdisciplinary researches, working together to build an Asian economic society” said dean of Renmin Law School Han Dayuan.  The 4th “Asian Policy Forum” was held in Renmin University of China on 31st, August. More than 40 scholars from China and Japan discussed the theme of “Market, Government and the Rule of Law”.

The Vice-President Renmin University Wang Liming noted that this meeting had involved several interdisciplinary topics including law, finance and economics, which was of great significance in promoting the development of “The Asia Law Community”, the interdisciplinary communication between law, economics and other disciplines, as well as the legal construction of both China and Japan.

Based on the case study of the urban governance, Professor Mo Yuchuan from Renmin Law School explored the proper relationship between government, market, society, public and the rule of law. He believed it was urgent and fundamental for China to embrace a change in thought--from the urban management to the urban governance.  Through re-examining the concept of govern, reforming the institutional system, improving local legislation and handling properly the relations between government, public and the rule of law, a new way of urban governance with a responsible government, full participation of the public and the rule of good law can be created.
