With its growing role in solving disputes related to international transactions, the international commercial arbitration has caught great attention of both theory and practical circle.  In order to promote its further development and to appeal to those who are interested in this area, concerned sponsors (see the list at the bottom) now launched “Zhonglun Cup”—the First National Essay Competition on International Commercial Arbitration. After due and just process of evaluation, the authors of excellent essays would be awarded.

  1. Requirement of the essays

　　1)   Applicants: Academics, in-house, lawyers, students of all level(undergraduates, graduates and Ph.D. and others whose job related to law.

　　2)   The length: 8000 – 15000 words.

　　3)   The annotation: Refer to the style of periodical --Arbitration and Law. The footnote of first page should include following information: the author’s name and the organization he/she belonged to, author’s title, telephone number, address and postcode, and Email.

　　4)   Submit essays: Please Email your essay to zhengwen@cietac.org, with two attachments: your essay named as “author’s name + essay’s title” and your CV including the information of your birthday, photo, education ground, job, areas of interest and publications.

　　5)   The essay submitted shouldn’t have been published in whatever ways.

　　6)   Please make sure your essay meet the above requirements and be cohesive and clear. A good essay is supposed to have abundant materials, strong arguments and main ideas that relate theory to practice.

　　7)   Authors are responsible for the originality and contents of the submitted essays. 

　　8)   Each author can submit an essay only, and please save a copy.

　　9)   The deadline for submission: October 1st, 2013

   2. About the thesis

　　Applicants can choose thesis concerned with International commercial arbitration, including but not confined to the arbitration agreement, the scope of arbitration, a compare study of arbitration rules, the evidence in arbitration, the preservation and provisional measures, the fee of arbitration and the confirmation and execution of arbitration outcome by judicial system.

　　Thesises that are creative, practical and instructive are encouraged.

　3. Evaluation and Awarding

　　1)   We will invite authoritative experts to evaluate the application anonymously.  After the stage of preliminary review, review, thesis defend, final review and the examination of academic misconduct, the excellent applications would be awarded First Prize, Second Prize, Third Prize and Excellence Award.

　　The First Prize: three in total, 6000 Yuan

　　The Second Prize: five in total, 3000 Yuan

　　The Third Prize: ten in total, 2000 Yuan

　　2） The awarded applicants might be selected to join the “ International Commercial Academic Salon”, exchanging their opinions with notable experts.

　　3)  The awarded University Students are supposed to attend Prize-giving event.

　　The commission would choose excellent essays and recommend them to the periodical of Arbitration and Law.
